Carob Nut Butter Smoothie
I'm just discovering carob. It's not cocoa powder, but gosh darn it, you could have fooled me! Unlike chocolate, carob is naturally sweet, low in fat, high in fiber, has calcium and no caffeine. Health Benefits of Carob: Carob tannins contain Gallic acid that works as an analgesic, anti-allergic, antibacterial, antioxidant, antiviral and antiseptic. Carob improves digestion, relieves diarrhea, and lowers cholesterol. (RealRawFood.com) |
Ingredients4 frozen bananas*
1.5 cups dairy-free milk (I like almond milk) 1/4 cup carob powder 1/3 cup nut butter *peel bananas before freezing |
Optional Add-Insoptional add-ins
1/4 cup chia seeds 1 tbsp. maca powder 1/4 cup ground flax 3-5 pitted dates 1 tsp. bee pollen 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 tsp. vanilla 2 tsp. honey |
DirectionsTear bananas in half. Add all ingredients to blender or food processor. Blend until smooth. (Hopefully you have a better food processor than me, or beware the dreaded smoothie-spray-the-kitchen--if this is also your case, I recommend wrapping a towel around your device!) Add more milk if a more liquid-y consistency is desired. Enjoy. :)
